Would the BQ25172 charger ic be better for a solar application with a single 6V solar panel?

    Hello

    The BQ25172 would not be good fit for a solar panel.  

    It does not have input voltage power management (VINDPM) that will limit output current to prevent input voltage from dropping and resetting unit.  For more information on this feature see the BQ25176J, section 7.3.2.2.

    The number of NiMH linear chargers are limited, and none have this feature.
