Dear Team,

We want to use the BQ24780SRUYR as standalone battery charger.

Input Voltage range: 5V to 12V

Battery configurations: 3S Lithium Ion

Max Battery Voltage: 12.6V

Please let me know if we can use the BQ24780SRUYR IC as a standalone battery charger instead of using the MCU to control it.

No, The BQ24780s can not be use as a standalone device.

Based on this description you will need a buck-boost charger.

The BQ25798 is a buck-boost charger that comes with a Prog pin with the following functionality. Please refer to page 6 of the BQ25798 datasheet for a description of the pin:

Even though it is an I2C based charger, will the prog pin be enough to meet your standalone request?
