BQ77915: Technical Issues with BQ77915

Part Number: BQ77915
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ77307

Tool/software:

Hi ti team,

Can the BQ77915 be placed at the system end?

  • Hello Switch,

Can you elaborate on the question? I am not sure what is the question.

    Best Regards,

    Luis Hernandez Salomon

  • Hi Luis,

The new project requires 4 series of 18650 lithium batteries, with the following requirements:
    1. The protection IC needs to be placed on the circuit board, and the 18650 lithium batteries should be removable.
    2. The following protections are needed: Cell balancing, Open wire (OW), Over-temperature (OT), Overcurrent during charge (OCC), Overcurrent during discharge (OCD), Overvoltage, Short-circuit Discharge (SCD), Under-temperature (UT), Undervoltage.

    Is the BQ77915 suitable?

  • Hello Switch,

The BQ77915 is made to be a pack-side protector. So it should be placed alongside the batteries as it was originally not made to have replaceable batteries. Although it could in theory be possible.

Another possible option would be the BQ77307 protector, which is a programmable protector. However, this protector does not have cell balancing capabilities.

    Best Regards,

    Luis Hernandez Salomon
