UCC23313: Driving SiC in a Vienna rectifier

Part Number: UCC23313
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC23525,

Tool/software:

My customer is planning to use this gate driver for driving the SiC switches in a Vienna Rectifier PFC front end with gate drive +18V to -2V, 25kHz.

Is this device recommended for this type of application? The DS implies that is a good choice, so I'm interested if you have any additional guidance.

Thanks, Mark

  • Hi Mark,

The UCC23525 is an updated version that will provide a stronger output drive strength if the external Rg is below 12 ohms.

But yes, UCC23313 is a cost optimized gate driver for discrete FETs. It does have a Miller clamp version that might be of interest if you are using the SiC FET for hard switching.

    Best regards,

    Sean
