TPS2640: IEC62368 and UL2367

Part Number: TPS2640
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2660,

Tool/software:

Hello,

When comparing the products ① TPS26400 and ② TPS2660 on the HP, it states that ② has certifications for IEC62368 and UL2367, while ① is listed as not having any certifications. Additionally, in the TI functional safety category, ② is marked as Functional Safety-Capable, but there is no such mention for ①.

On the other hand, the technical documentation for product ① shows certificates for IEC62368 and UL2367, which is inconsistent with the above information.

Can we consider that ① also has these certifications?

If both ① and ② are certified, I believe the main differences between the two products are as follows, but are there any other differences?

  • The input voltage ranges are different (① is 42V, ② is 60V).
  • The response to overcurrent: ① has current limiting and latch, while ② has latch-off only.
  • The difference in current limiting: ① is 2A, and ② is 2.23A
  • Hello,

Thanks for reaching out to E2E.

Both TPS2640 and TPS2660 are UL certified. Need to update on the TPS2640 comparison table data. Thanks for pointing that out.

    Both have current limit feature.

You can do auto retry and latch off by using the MODE pin.

Sorry for the confusion in device comparing section. Please refer to datasheet for detailed information.

    Thanks

    Amrit
