TL598: Replacement of TL598CDR

Part Number: TL598
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TL494, TL594,

Tool/software:

Hi members.

My name is miyata.

We study the replacement part by EOL.

Would you please let me know the replacement part for TL598CDR ?

Currently, TL594CDR,TL494CDR are the candidates, but can they all be used as gate drivers in the same way?

  • Hi Miyata,

Both TL494 and TL594 are good candidates as replacement. Both have a 40V max VIN, 300Khz 200mA gate driver capabilities and yes both can be used as gate drivers int eh same way.

    Thank you

  • Hi Alva san

    Thank you for your advice.

The output circuits of TL598CDR and TL594 are different.

Are there any points I should be aware of when replacing between them?

  • Hi Miyata-san,

In the case of TL494/TL594, the emitters of both gate drivers need to be shorted externally, while for TL598 they are shorted internally. The second difference is that TL598 has an extra pin Vc, which is the supply voltage of both gate drivers, most of the times VC is shorted to VCC pin which is the supply voltage of the device. For TL494/TL594 you don't need to worry about it as it just has a single VCC pin voltage supply of the device which internally bias both gate drivers.

    Thank you
