BQ25302: Output capacitor required?

Part Number: BQ25302

Tool/software:

Hello.

I am modifying the behavior of my charging station that uses the BQ25302 so that when a battery is removed, the IC's EN pin is pulled low, turning off the IC. On the IC, I pull POL to ground to allow this.

I do not want the STAT LED flashing, which is the normal case in such a situation.

To do this, I built a circuit like this (see picture). The drain is connected to a 5V power supply.

The gate is powered from the battery with a 100K resistor pull down to counter act the battery IC wanting to charge the battery even when missing.

R43 needs to be a high value so it doesn't drain the battery when charged.

The problem I have is, 100K is not enough to counter-act the BQ25302. It only disappates the current output if I use a 1K resistor on R43 which is too high of a drain on the battery.

However, if I remove the 10uF Cout capacitor, the 100K resistor on R43 works just fine. So - everything seems to work with Cout removed, but I understand it is there to control ripple. Are there any negative side effects to having no Cout?
