TPSM843B22: TPSM843B22

Part Number: TPSM843B22
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS543B22

Tool/software:

The datasheets says, Low impedance bypassing of 'VIN' pins to PGND is critical, so need to place 10-nF to 100-nF capacitor from each VIN to PGND as close as possible.

Is this capacitor needs to place in each vin pins? but in the given example in datasheet these capacitors are no placed.

Another doubt is TPSM843B22 is an integrated inductor converter, then why there is a design of external inductor given in datasheet, Is the internal inductor is not sufficient?

  • Thank you for pointing out these issues.

The TPSM843B22 datasheet is based on the TPS543B22 datasheet.

The page 3 pin description should read place 1uF capacitors on VIN to PGND and has been reported to be fixed.

The pg 15 and 17 references to calculating Lo in the design process should have just mentioned the Lo value

stated on page 22 of 330nH and state the inductor is typically calculated this way.

The fixed inductor value can limit the operating area  (input voltage, output voltage and switching

frequency dependent) compared to a converter where there is more design freedom on component selection.

The webench design tool is available at the bottom of the product folder TPSM843B22 data sheet, product information and support | TI.com

and can generate a starting point for a design.
