BQ3050: The PWM pin of the BQ8050 is easily damaged

Part Number: BQ3050
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ8050,

Tool/software:

Hi TI engineer:

Our new batch of products, BQ8050 PWM pin damage probability is very high, up to 5%.  We would like to know what hardware causes are likely to cause damage to BQ8050 PWM pins

Looking forward to your reply! thank you!

  • Hi,

Which pens are you referring to?

    You are using BQ3050?

    Regards,

    Diego

  • Thanks for you reply!

The following is a detailed explanation

    We have a project that uses 8050 RC6 to do PWM function, the market feedback has a 5% chance of RC6 damage, the pin can not send PWM; We did some tests (such as pulling the pin down or setting it at a very high level) but there was no recurrence of damage;

    We use the BQ8050 chip

Looking forward to your reply! thank you!

  • Hi,

BQ8050 is a generalized hardware platform we have many devices that utilize the 8050 hardware, can you please be more specific?

In general, I would say do not violate abs max on any pins, as this will cause damage.

    Diego
