Hello,

If the power is removed (neither VIN nor VBAT), will the BQ21080 store the user configurations? Or will it revert to the default settings?

Also, which are the default settings?

    Hello João,

    Yes, the registers will reset to their default settings if the device is not being powered by VIN or VBAT or if an event occurs that causes a power-on reset (POR).

    Please refer to section 8.5 "Register Maps" of the BQ21080 datasheet. For example, see the IC_CTRL register below:

    The default/POR value of this register is 0x84 (84h). Additionally, the default values of each bit can be seen in the table. For example, bit 7 (the TS_EN bit) is "1" (1b1) by default.

    Thank you for your answer.

    I think I understood but just to be sure: if the device didn't have VIN or VBAT, the registers will reset to their default state. So, if we keep the VBAT (without VIN), the registers will be saved and vice-versa (with VIN and without VBAT).

    Hello João,

    Yes, both of those statements are correct.

    Additionally, it is important to note that the registers can be reset in several ways. For example:

    • The device entering shutdown mode
    • The watchdog timer expiring
    • VBAT falling below BUVLO
