LM317A: Mounting condition and hand soldering of TO-220

Hi Team,

I have a question about mounting a TO-220.

In the E2E post below, I found that there is no problem with mounting on side B(See attached).

I have two additional questions.

1) Are the mounting conditions (time, temperature, etc.) the same whether mounting with side A or side B?

2) Is hand soldering recommended for this device? If yes, please tell me the conditions (time, temperature, etc.).

Hi Takahashi-san,

Sorry for the delay. According to IPC-A-610, there is an issue for Class 3 products if the connector body contacts the connecting plate because it can prevent solder flow. See below.

Hi Takahashi-san,

I believe the Class 3 product is referring to the end product adhering to IPC-A-610 Class 3.
