UCC3802: Are UCC3802D and UCC2802D the same?

Part Number: UCC3802
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC2802

Tool/software:

Hello Dear Texas Instruments Engineers and Users,

We want to design a flyback circuit that operates 50W output power. We chose UCC3802D but we have UCC2802D's reference design. When we look at the datasheet they look the same but we want to sure about it. Is there any difference between them? (calculation, properties etc.)

If we add UCC3802 in the UCC2802's reference design instead of UCC2802, would we make a mistake?

Thank you.

  • Hi,

The difference between UCC3802 and UCC2802 is their temperature range.

UCC3802, temperature range 0 to 70C. But UCC2802 -40 to 125C. So if your design needs work with outside 0 to 70C, UCC3802 cannot be used since its temperature specs are violated. In such a case, UCC2802 should be used.
