WEBENCH-POWER-DESIGNER: 24V to 15V power design for 100mA to 20A load current

Part Number: WEBENCH-POWER-DESIGNER
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM25116

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

I am using webench-power designer tool for getting a DC/DC power supply design for -
Vin  = 24V,
Vout = 15V
IOUT (min) = 100mA
IOUT (max) = 20A

Webench tool is giving different circuits for different IOUT current loads. And none of design is working for IOUT load ranging from 100mA - 20A. And i am not able to get a single design to meet my requirement mentioned above.

Any help in this is really appreciated.

Thanks,
Sanjay

    E2E assigned this to the Medium Voltage BUCK team.  Since the post doesn't say, is this for a non-isolated BUCK design, or an isolated DC-DC converter?

    What makes you say that the design you are seeing for a 20A load wont work for 100mA?  Most Synchronous BUCK converters will operate from 0A to their full rated loading current, so I'm not sure why you're saying that the designs are not working for IOUT load range.

    Yes, if you tell Webench to design for for a maximum load current of 100mA and a maximum current of 20A, it will produce very different designs, but the 20A design will likely work down to 100mA.

  • Hi Peter,

    I tried a different design and it's working. Earlier i was trying to use the the LM25116. I it was not working as expected.

    Thanks,
