BQ25172: Why recent NiMH battery chargers do not have the ΔV detection function to stop charging?

The BQ2002 family of parts will used  ΔV and ΔT.  They are fast charge controllers with higher charge currents, typically 1C.  This amount of current can be large.

The BQ25172 will charge at a lower current and it targeted at battery backup solutions.  Charge is timer based and typically C/4 or lower current.
