Hello,

My customer has doubts about the thermal characteristics of LMR51420.

Compared to other products that generally have GND on the bottom side for thermal temperature characteristics, LMR51420 has no GND on the bottom side and has a small package.

Can the customer use the LMR51420's 2A rated current sufficiently?

    Hi JH, I understand the customer concern. We can get very good thermal performance out of this small, low pin count package. I understand it could be surprising.

    Here is a technical article on the topic

    In the article, we highlight LM61460 which is a 6A device that can operate to high ambient temperatures in a package with similar characteristics to LMR51420.

    I would recommend sampling the customer the EVM if they have any further doubts on the package's thermal performance.
