TPS48111Q1EVM: short into start

Part Number: TPS48111Q1EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS23523

Tool/software:

hi team,

can our chip do some protection when short into start? i notice that TPS23523 can realize this.

do u have any advise? thanks!

  • Hi Zoey,

The TPS4811 device does not have the same dual current limit protection schemes. The individual SCP and OC protection thresholds are configurable and will still act in an event that the thresholds are exceeded like in a short to GND condition. The time it takes to react can also be adjusted using the CTMR value, this can be accounted for to ensure the device operates safely even in these conditions and to protect your FET.

As the TPS4811 device has an external FET we always recommend you use the SOA FET calculator linked below to make sure the chosen FET can withstand the conditions given the likely higher threshold values.

    Thank you,
