LM66100: Regarding the Periodical spikes in LM66100 Ideal Diode

Hi Team,

We are evaluating the LM66100 part for our new design. We are evaluating the ideal diode on LM66100EVM board. We are applying 4.5V as input and we are getting 4.5V at output. But we observing the periodical spikes that shoots up to 15-20mA. Please refer the below image.

Since the target design is the battery operated system, we are responding to this issue. Please share your comments to solve this ASAP.

Below is the EVM Board jumper settings:

JP3 is floating

JP2 is connected

JP1 & JP4 are not connected

JP5 is not connected

Hi Stanley,

Please test again with either JP3 or JP4 connected. It is not recommended to keep CE floating.

Hi,

Yes. We have tested that too. but still we are getting the issue. This is the jumper settings.

Note:

We are getting the spikes on the input side. But those spike are not appear at output side.

What could be the issue?

Hi Stanley,

You are measuring current spikes at the input, right? Can you remove all the input capacitors and test again?

Hi,

We have removed capacitor C1 and C3 on Evaluation Board. But still we are observing the spikes.

Hi Stanley,

Can you probe VIN1, VIN2 signals as well? Please include VIN1,VIN2,Input current of each supply.

Also test standalone devices as well. By this I mean to test U1 and U2 separately and not in Oring.

Hi,

As of now we have tested the EVM board with Bench Power Supply.

Today we have tested the EVM with Battery Pack. Now we didn't observe the spike.

Issue happening when tried from bench power source. My target power source is Battery pack only.

Hence the issue resolved right now
