Hi Team,

My customer is KOSTAL.

They are consulting the thermal calculation process of LM61460-Q1. Their calculation results show that the period temperature is 157℃ under the following working conditions, which exceeds the application conditions. Can you analyze how to calculate accurately?


The calculation process is as follows:

VIN=9~16V

Vout=5V

Iout=4A

Tamb=85℃

Fsw=400kHZ

    Considering the customer's IC power dissipation for their example, 1.06W, I can estimate the junction temperature by:

    Calculated junction is estimated to be below 112°C.
