BQ25890: Power limited of the BQ25890 cuases failure

I am design a system that using the BQ25890 for the battery management. But I my CPU power up cuased by a power limited of the BQ25890.

The boards work fine for a PD power which can output 12V.

But it fail when I use the RPI5 adapter which can output 5V/3A.

After some debuging, I think it is cuased by the BQ25890 to limited the adapter to 500mA then cuased the VSYS lower than 3V. But my system need more than 500mA for boot up.

I design the divider 4 follow the datasheet which can set the power limited to 2.4A, I can measure the 2.68V on both D+ and D- pin of the BQ2590, but it seems that does work, the board still power up fail !

Can anyone help on this? Urgency

Hello,

Can you share a scope capture of the D+ and D- pins on the charger IC during adapter connection? You have voltage dividers for D+ and D- which may need to be buffered for forced detection.

Hello Keller:

I capture the wave of for 3 different supply:

33W PD power adapter (the board works fine):

5V USB power adapter (the board works fine):

USB 3.0 Host from Laptop (The board can not boot up which is the power limited cuase, I can sure that the USB can output 1A supply):

Hi,

The input current limit detection is internal. The host may adjust the input current limit via I2C after the initial input current limit detection is completed.

Thanks for your reply, is that mean that if the initial current for my system is more than 5V/500mA, than the BQ25890 is not suitable for my design? If yes, do you have any other part which has a high initial current and support MaxCharge for my design?
