LM4041C: wrong PSPICE model

Part Number: LM4041C
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM4040

Tool/software:

Hi team,

I have an issue with LM4041/LM4040 ADJ reference IC.

All Pspice models of these chips seem wrong when the anode is not directly connected to ground.

I added a PSPICE project where LM4041 is connected with a resistor in series. The voltage drop across the IC is 1.36V if the resistor is connected to the anode and 1.23V if connected to the cathode. Obviously the voltage drop should remain the same and should not depend on where the resistor is placed (upper or lower position).

It's clearly an error in the model.

  • Hi Paolo,

Thank you for sharing your findings!

We will look into this issue.

In general applications, we recommend using RL3 in the schematic to set the current going through the path.

In addition, it is also advised to use a configuration like Figure 7-3 from the datasheet below.

    I hope this helps!

    Best Regards,

    Andrew Li
