BQ40Z80: Not able to establish SMBus communication from custom designed board using bq40z80

Tool/software:

Trying it communicate with external MCU. Tried pressing wake up pin, were getting voltage at the output but not getting detected in the MCU. SMBus pins were pulled up.
Tried using our own custom MCU board with EVM it is working fine.
Tried to use custom MCU with custom bq40z80 board it's not able to detect it.
What could be the reason for it.
Can share the schematic personally but not on the forum.

Do you have access to the EV2400 and BQstudio to test to see if the EV2400 works with your custom bq40z80 board.

I remembered that it needs to be programmed before using. I have raised the same as separate question.
