TPS4811-Q1: FET recommadation.

Part Number: TPS4811-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello.

I'm doing Battery(40~60V/50A) On/off Switch.

We had been used Relay. It has problem like Arc, Counter electromotive force etc.

So Searching another solution.

1. P-ch FET :

    - wonder : Backward voltage, In-rush, Temperature(Rds)

2. IGBT :

    - Wonder : Tempersture(Vf).

3. Diode+Relay :

    - Wonder : Diode Temperature(Rds)

4. TPS48110

    - Could you recommend N-ch FET?

    - Could I use two N-ch FET like below picture? Serial place.

    - Cou I use N FET, in High side switch?

    - Could I adjust protection ?

      OVP : 65V, OCP : 53A UVLO 35V

    - Could you recommend another solution?

Thanks.

  • Hello,

Yes! The TPS4811 part could be a good fit here. You can absolutely use two back to back FETs, this will help with reverse current blocking for example.

You can also use parallel FETs for high power systems.

The short circuit, over current, over voltage and UVLO protections are all adjustable. The TPS4811 device has three variations with key differences highlighted below.

While we do not recommend specific FETs there are reference designs you can start with to see what might work including our EVM: https://www.ti.com/tool/TPS48111Q1EVM

We also provide a SOA FET calculator to help you make sure the FET chosen will meet all necessary criteria for our device: https://www.ti.com/product/TPS4811-Q1#design-tools-simulation

    Thank you,

    Sarah
