Part Number: LM5170EVM-BIDIR
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5170-Q1, LM5170

Tool/software:

Hi,

We have design the board as per EVM schematic. However while testing we could not enable brake  circuit. As per instructions in the EVM user guide , we Kept Pin 41 (SYNCOUT) below 0.8V  (logic Low), We closed Jumper J3 . Please guide.

  • Hi Raj,

    Can you share the schematic?

Are you operating in buck mode or boost mode?

    Best Regards,

    Feng

  • Hi Feng,

I have shared schematic with you , pls refer private Message.

  • Hi Raj,

You may short the circuit breaker and see if it works as a first step.

And please note as described in the datasheet:

If the steady-state differential voltage between the HV-Port and LV-Port is less than 10 V during power up, TI does not recommend the user to activate the failure detection function. Also, if the differential voltage is less than 8 V, TI recommends not to use the circuit breaker function of the LM5170-Q1 at all.

So, I think you should not use circuit breaker function.

    Best Regards,

    Feng

  • Hi Feng,

Thank you for your suggestion. I will do the same.

  • Hi Feng,

I shorted the circuit breaker and taken the readings by giving load from 0A to 4A. I found the output voltage regulation is not maintained. Pls see below readings.

Setup : HV Port : 24V DC Power Supply  And LV Port : Electronic Load connected (expected  voltage at this Port 14.5 V DC)

  • Hi Raj,

    Please share some waveforms.

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Raj,

I will close this thread as it is discussed in another thread.
