UCC21540: Looking for dual gate driver

Genius 16900 points
Part Number: UCC21540

Tool/software:

Hi Experts,

Customer wants to replace this diode-based rectification to synchronous rectification:

The input is 264VAC peak having frequency 30Khz +-12kHz. The input is square waveform.

Do you think the UCC21540 can be used? Or can you suggest other dual channel gate driver according to these requirements?

Thank you.

Regards,
Archie A.

  • Hi Archie,

The UCC21540 is a dual channel isolated gate driver. You could use it to drive a 30kHz synchronous rectifier, but it will also need 2 external FETs, a control circuit, and power supplies for the isolated channels vs. the existing diode rectifier solution.

You might want to see if there is an integrated device within TI that can handle 264V. There are non-isolated gate drivers that ostensible can withstand 600V.

    Best regards,

    Sean
