TPS25750: TPS25750 and BQ charger configuration

Hello,

I am working on a battery charger design with TPS25750D (plan to be replaced with 25751 later) with eeprom and BQ25792 (plan to be replaced with 25798 which is out of stock for now). I have a few questions.

1. If use TPS25750 for charging (sink) only, I don't need PP5V, right? Can I leave the pin floating?

2. How are the settings I made on TPS25750 application customization tool (and resulted binary configuration file) related to setting to BQ25792?

3. Can I use mcu and i2c to configure BQ25792 directly by setting its registers? In that case, how should I configure TPS25750? Is the i2c connection between TPS25750 master port and BQ25792 still needed?

4. If I don't use eeprom with TPS25750D, do I have to load configuration binary file from MCU through i2c? How I wish it can be done by setting some registers from mcu through i2c like BQ25792.

    1. Correct, PP5V would not be needed. You would ground PP5V if unused.

    2. The TPS25750 communicates with the BQ device via I2C to set various settings on the BQ device during runtime. What I2C communication is sent and when is determined by the application customization settings.

    3. Yes. You would configure the TPS25750 with no BQ selected in the App Customization tool. The connection would not be needed.

    4. Yes, this can be done. Please see the TPS25750 Technical Reference Manual, section 4.2.
