Tool/software:
Dear colleagues.
Could you help me with the following question.
What is the thermal shutdown value for the next design?
I have a device that powered by LM5013:
Vinput = 57V
Vout=5V
Iout=1A
The ambient temperature is 85 degrees celcius.
Thank you in advance.
Hello Serhii,
If the junction temperature exceeds 175°C (typical), thermal shutdown occurs to prevent further power dissipation and temperature rise. The LM5013 initiates a restart sequence when the junction temperature falls to 165°C, based on a typical thermal shutdown hysteresis of 10°C, which is a non-latching protection, so the device cycles into and out of thermal shutdown if the fault persists. Please refer to datasheet section 8.3.11, 9.4.2.1.
Regards
Arpita
Hello Arpita.
Thank you for your reply.
Maybe I was unclear about the question.
So What will be temperature of IC in conditions that I have mentioned previously.
Is it possible to simulate it some how ?
Dera Serhii,
I will check this query and get back to you. I am out of office so please expect some delay in response.
Thank you for help.
I have figured it out myself.
