TPS568236: Could output stay stable in high duty cycle situation

Part Number: TPS568236

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

Customer have one question about our TPS568236 or some general MV Buck.

Could output voltage keep stable when the duty cycle near the maximum duty cycle?

For example, Input voltage=5.5V, Output Voltage=5V, Output current=1~2A.

Do we have any method or technology can keep this output voltage stable?

Thank you,

Yishan Chen

  • Yishan,

This device has a minimum off time of 190ns. Anything below this can not be guaranteed for stable operation. In this case, the duty cycle will be 90.91% which will lead to a 151ns off time given the 600kHz fsw. I cannot recommend this. The same rule applies for other buck converters, you are limited by the minimum off time in high duty cycle cases, see datasheet for off time

    Best,

    Britton
