TPS65023: PMIC Recommendation

Guru 10390 points
Part Number: TPS65023

Tool/software:

Hello,

My customer is looking for a PMIC that can best support the following conditions:

  - VIN : 5V

  - DC/DC 1CH (0.9V, 1A or higher) & LDO 2 CH (3.3V, 1.8V, 300mA)

Could you please recommend the most compatible TI PMIC?

Thank you.

JH

  • Hi,

What is your end application? does the PMIC has to be functional safety complaint or non-functional safety complaint? If yes, then what ASIL level is needed.

You mentioned you need in total 3 channels or rails and is it absolute necessary to have one buck and two LDOs ?  can not those be two bucks one LDO or even all three bucks.

    Regards,

    Ishtiaque

  • Hello

    I am answering below.

The final application is a USB MIC, such as the ZOOM IQ5.

The PMIC to be used requires the following functions:

Accept 5V from the mobile phone and supply power to the DSP.

For the DSP currently under review, three rails are needed: DC-DC 0.9V, LDO 3.3V, and LDO 1.8V.
Support I2C connection to the DSP.

Optionally, a PMIC with a mode function to reduce power consumption as needed. (This is not a strict requirement.)

    Thank you.

  • Hi Chang Gyun and JH,

I would suggest looking at the TPS650061 PMIC:

    • Accepts 5V VIN
    • LDO1 = 3.3 V, 300 mA
    • LDO2 = 1.8 V, 300 mA
    • DC-DC output voltage is adjustable by using a resistor divider network. Can be configured to 0.9V, 1A
    • Has low-power PFM mode to reduce power consumption at light loads.

For PMIC that supports I2C connection, LP873244-Q1 may be a better choice:

    • Technical Reference Manual for LP873244-Q1
    • Accepts 5V VIN
    • LDO0 = 1.8 V, 300 mA
    • LDO1 = 3.3 V, 300 mA
    • BUCK0 = 0.9 V, 2 A
    • (BUCK1 not used)

Let me know if there are any other concerns or questions.

    Best Regards,
    Sarah
