LMR64010: Inductor Value

Part Number: LMR64010

Tool/software:

Dear TI support,

I would like to enquire about the inductor values. What should be the recommended inductor value if I am stepping up my voltage from 12V to 15V? I want to draw a load current of 477mA. Thank you!

Best Regards

Ena

  • Hi Ena,

A 10μH inductor with Isat >= 1.5A is recommended for your application.

  • Hi Lei,

Could you please explain why you chose 1.5A for Isat and not another value? I'm trying to understand why the Vin and SW pins of the boost regulator are now shorted. Could the issue be related to the fact that the inductor I selected has a saturation current of 1.4A?

    Regards

    Ena

  • Hi Ena,

When working in Vin = 12V, Vout = 15V and Iout = 477mA, the max inductor peak current is around 0.9A. To leave some margins, and also consider that the typical peak current limit is 1.5A, so comes the recommended 1.5A Isat. Actually, 1.4A Isat also should be OK.

How you measured the Vin and SW pin? when the device is disable?

    Regards

    Lei
