TPS4812-Q1: request for Functional Safety documents

Part Number: TPS4812-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS4811-Q1, TPS1211-Q1, TPS1214-Q1

Tool/software:

We are currently using TPS4811-Q1 and would like to replace it with TPS4812-Q1 / TPS12140-Q1 / TPS12141-Q1 mainly due to the new I2t protection.

We currently have problems with short-circuits over long cables (higher resistance, therefore short-circuit protection is not active, but over time the power dissipation over the FET is to high) destroying the FET connected to TPS4811-Q1.

For TPS4811-Q1 is "Functional Safety-Capable" while TPS4812-Q1 / TPS12140-Q1 and TPS12141-Q1 are not.

Therefore my question, is it planned to add "Functional Safety-Capable" with the needed documentation to TPS4812-Q1 / TPS12140-Q1 and TPS12141-Q1 in the near future?

Thanks

  • Stefan,

My understanding was that all of our controller devices are functional safety capable. This essentially just means being able to provide a FIT rate document and FMEA document. For TPS1214-Q1, TPS1211-Q1,  TPS4811-Q1, etc. you can find this document on the product page:

TPS4812-Q1 is a newer device and we are working to get this document out there- however it will like be later in this quarter before we have it. Not that "functional safety capable" would not indicate that we have a safety manual. This would be "functional safety compliant". More information about our classifications can be found below:

  • Tim, thanks for your answer.

that was the answer I was looking for ;-)

exactly, I am looking forward to the FIT rate and FMEA document of TPS4812-Q1 , is there a way to subscribe to automatically get a notification once they are out ?

  • Stefan,

Is it OK to email you offline with the email address associated with your MyTI account? That way I can just email you when it is available.
