About how to disable charging the cell lower than 1.8V even it’s slowly discharged to (but not quickly)? We don’t want to charge the battery pack with extremely low cell voltage, which may induce fire or explosion.
Previously, you suggested: "The gauge will inform the host or a charger with the appropriate charging voltage setting, preventing excessive charging currents of significantly discharged cells. The gauge reports the appropriate current and it's up to the host or charger to make sure that this is followed."
In regard of implementing the protection feature in the MCU FW, I would like to clarify a few things:
- according to BQ78350-R1 Technical Reference (https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sluubd3e/sluubd3e.pdf) there are several registers (addr: 0x30...0x3E, 0x4D) providing cell voltage values, which of these registers have to be read to get the value(s) appropriate for the battery pack.
- does the cell voltage fluctuates? i.e. do I have to apply some smoothing/averaging on the values read from the IC?
