TPS25947: e-Fuse that can be used to protect the charge/discharge battery

Part Number: TPS25947
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25948

Tool/software:

Hi,

My system uses a 2Cell Li-ion battery which is charged and discharged. At that time, I wondered if I could use e-Fuse instead of FET as a battery protection circuit.

I think it is difficult to use TPS25947 and I am looking for other products. Could you tell me if there is an e-Fuse that can be used for the battery charging and discharging system?

  • Hi Nishie-san,

Can you check with the customer if they want a power switch or battery charger IC. From the request, it looks like they need battery charger IC but the part number used here is for power switch.

  • Hi Arush-san,

    Thank you for your support.

In addition to the battery charger IC, we are considering e-Fuse as a battery protection circuit. (Alternative to the battery protection IC)

Therefore, we are looking for a product that can function as a power switch.

  • Hi Nishie-san,

    Apologies for delayed response.

I think it is difficult to use TPS25947 and I am looking for other products.

Can you tell me the exact issue with this part.? one issue I can think is you need bi-directional part? In that case, TPS25948 should be a good fit. It has a pin called RCBCTRL which can be used to enable, disable the reverse current blocking.

One more issue which I see in general when trying to use an eFuse as battery charger circuit is lack of charge profiles.

    Best Regards,
