TPS650330-Q1: Buck 2 and LDO output not coming

Hi Phil,

Another thing I noticed is , voltage at SEQ pin is 4.5V and still we are not seeing Buck2 output. Voltage at GPIO pin is 0V as this is pulled up with buck2 voltage and still I can see buck3 output (and not seeing LDO output). Don't understand this behavior. I even tried feeding 1.8V externally on GPIO pin and still see only buck3 output and do not see LDO output.

 It is very strange. Do you have any load connected to these rails? How many boards do you have? Do you have a working board? just one or every board has the issue?

Hi Phil,

Yes, Serializer and Sensor are connected to output of PMIC. 1.2V and 1.8V are connected to Serializer. 3.3V and 2.8V are connected to Onsemi sensor.

We have manufactured 5 boards for initial validation and it is the same case in all 5 boards. Do you think there could be some IC lot issue? Do you think I need to get fresh TPS650330 ICs and mount and check ? 

Would you be able to send me some samples for doing this activity?

  When and where did you get these TPS65033000RGERQ1 samples? Can you read their PID (0x0) and RID (0x1)? 

  I'm not sure if it's a IC lot issue and fix the issue by fresh TPS65033000RGERQ1 ICs.

  Can you please also read registers from 0x1F to 0x22; there should be some bits="1" to indicate the fault status of these rails.

Hi Phil,

We got these parts from Digikey. 

I assume I2C address is 0xC0 by default. I don't see much information in datasheet about this.

I tried to read the registers and it gives me Read/Write error. Looks like I am not able to access this IC.

Hi Phil,

We have connected VIO to the buck2 output. So we do not have VIO voltage. That might be the reason why I was not able to communicate with PMIC. I will supply this voltage externally and try reading PID again.

  Not only PID; can you please also read registers from 0x1F to 0x22; there should be some bits="1" to indicate the fault status of these rails.

Hi Phil,

I externally fed 1.8V on VIO and tried reading PMIC registers, it still shows read-write error. 

It would be helpful if you could send at least 2 samples for us to re assemble these parts and check.
