Tool/software:

With the latest version of the USBCPD_Application_Customization_Tool (1.0.2) using the TPS25751 and BQ25972.

The REGN LDO of the BQ25972 is no longer disabled when not charging. This consumes more than 1 mA more than before with the previous version of the tool (exact version unknown, but done on August 26th).

Is there a known difference?

According to the release notes of the tool, the sleep mode has to be enabled manually, which has been done. (* Selecting a BQ part for TPS25751 disables sleep mode and enables current monitor, user can configure these settings through "Advanced Configuration"). Is this somehow related?

Could you further elaborate on what you mean by "when not charging" here? Is the USB PD adapter connected or disconnected? Is the battery fully charged?

Hi Aya,

Not charging means that the USB PD adapter is not connected. TPS25751 VIN_3V3 is switched off. The status of the battery is not dependent.

During debugging I found that the ADC on the BQ25972 is enabled. REG2E_ADC_Control Register bit ADC_EN is set. This is different from the old version.

If I disable the EN_ADC bit (via I2C to TPS25751) from our firmware, then it behaves as before.

Hi Aya,

Can you please create me a new binary with this configuration: HUS_TPS25751_V1.4.json.zip

Only change is battery charging voltage from 8.39V to 8.2V.

I also am having this issue. Can you tell me where in the advance configuration of the TPS25751 the BQ25792 ADC is enabled/disabled? I've gone through the register information for the TPS25751S and I haven't found where this is done. I also need to change the default recharge threshold of the BQ25792 from the default of 200mV to 400mV.

Hi Michael,

Can you submit a new E2E thread and provide your json and the ask again?

The I2C writes are not contained in the register information and needs to be configured by TI currently.

For I2C registers that the TPS25751 does not write to, you may need to use an EC or MCU to add additional BQ register writes using the I2Cw/I2Cr 4CC commands.

Yea as I was digging into this that was the conclusion I came to. The changes that were being made appeared to be outside the scope of the online configurator even in advance mode. I'll start a new thread.
