TPS61021A: TPS61021A lower efficiency than expected

Part Number: TPS61021A

Tool/software:

Hi there

I am currently using your TPS61021A DC-DC converter to generate a 3.3V output from two AAA batteries connected in series. My system's operating conditions are as follows:

  • Input Voltage (Vi): 1.8V - 3.0V
  • Output Voltage (Vo): 3.3V

While analyzing the current consumption of my system during program execution, I have observed significant and unexpected current spikes. Additionally, the system's overall performance appears to degrade noticeably when the input voltage is near 3.0V.

Could you please clarify whether this behavior is expected from the TPS61021A under these operating conditions? Are there any specific recommendations to improve system performance or mitigate the observed current spikes?

Thank you in advance for your support.
