BQ2962:[questions] undervoltage function, 7.3.3 Regulated Output Voltage and REG_EN Pin and 7.4.1 normal mode section on datasheet

Part Number: BQ2962
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ2961,

Tool/software:

Hi,

I am interested by this component and i have a questions :

Question on undervoltage function :

1. When an undervoltage is triggered (regardless of the fault cell), how do the REG and OUT pins behave?

2. Question on 7.3.3 Regulated Output Voltage and REG_EN Pin section
on the y axis of this diagram, it is write "cell voltag (V3-V2, V2-V1, V-VSS)",does this also apply to the cell V4-V3?

3. Question in 7.4.1 normal mode
In the datasheet,
it says “the regulated output is always enabled for BQ2921”. Could you tell me if there is a difference between the BQ2961 and the BQ2962 ?

Thanks you for answer

  • Hello Vincent,

    1. Section 7.3.3 Regulated Output Voltage and REG_EN Pin in the datasheet explain what happens to the REG pin when undervoltage is triggered. The OUT pin shouldn’t be affected from undervoltage. Figure 8-6. Undervoltage Detection to Turn Off the Regulator in the datasheet shows the REG and OUT pin when undervoltage is detected.

    2. It should also apply to cell V4-V3.

    3. Table 7-1. Programmable Parameters in the datasheet shows the other main differences between the BQ2961 and the BQ2962.

    Best Regards,
    Alexis
