TPS65987DDKEVM: Query on configuration tool settings for TPS65987DDKEVM

Part Number: TPS65987DDKEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65987DDK, TIDA-050014, TIDA-050012

Tool/software:

Hi

Where can I obtain the configuration tool settings for the TPS65987DDKEVM?

I can see that TPS65987DDK is listed in the config tool, however not specifically the TPS65987DDKEVM.

To enable USB2 billboard is there a specific setting required?  I note on the TPS65987DDKEVM the USB_N and USB_P lines are swapped, was this intentional?

We are building a DP alt mode device and looking to configure the PD controller as DFP initially, then in a separate configuration switch to UFP.  Any documents that you'd recommend referring to for this would be appreciated.

Thanks

Malcolm

  • Hi Malcom,

Thanks for reaching out on E2E!

I will take a look at this as I agree it does look like an issue. Please note that this PD controller does not do billboard. The D+/D- lines are used for BC1.2.

Give me some time this week to gather some links for you and I will get those to you!

    Thank you,

  • Hi Kevin

Many thanks for the quick response.  I've been using the config tool however if I setup a project for the TPS65987DDH device I'm given the option to open the config for the reference boards (TIDA-050012/TIDA-050014).

However if I select the TPS65987DDK device, I'm not given an option for the reference platforms.  I was hoping there would be some more detail around the PDOs and alt mode forTPS65987DDKEVM.

So if there is a separate project for the TPS65987DDKEVM this would be useful.

On our design currently we are able to program SPI flash using an FTDI device and can see PD messages being exchanged over the CC lines with a PD analyzer however we don't currently see any I2C debug option when we set this up through the config tool. Is there a separate config option for this or is it all down to the correct pullups and the ADCIN2 pull up/down resistor selection?

    Regards

    Mal

  • Hi Malcom,

    Of course glad to help!

Let me check with the team on a template you can use with the EVM.

If you are wanting to go into debug mode, make sure to first sweep for I2C.

Then ensure that the sweeper address matches that in the addressing of the device you should be able to enter debug then.

    Thank you,

    Kevin

  • Hi Kevin

Has there been any progress on obtaining project for the TPS65987DDKEVM?

    Regards

    Mal

  • Hi Mal,

Sorry for the delay here as I am OOO on travel but I will try and get that to you by EOW.

    Thank you,

    Kevin

  • Hi Kevin

Would you please provide an update on supplying the project for the TPS65987DDKEVM?

    Cheers
