BQ27542EVM: ADC conversion times & SOH

Part Number: BQ27542EVM

Tool/software:

Hello

Since the thread was closed without my question being answered, I will ask a new question.

Q1:
I heard in a related question that conversion time includes sampling time. What is the sampling time?

Q2:

If there is a battery current and cell voltage like the attached “Current wave form”, I think the phase shift between the battery current and cell voltage due to the conversion time will cause an error in the FCC calculation, is this correct?

best regards.

Q3:
In order to prevent errors due to phase shift, I would like to set a pause time between the charging current (-200mA) and discharging current (3A Pulse).
Since the conversion time is 1 sec, I would like to set it to 1.5 sec to give a margin of error.
Is this correct?(Attachment: Pause time added)

  • Hello,

    1. The conversion + sample time should be this 1 second typical value.

    2.  I am not sure what you are referring to here, the gauge should not have an issue collecting measurements for current and voltage.

    3. Where is this question originating from? Are you currently seeing issues with the measured current during this shift between discharge to charge?

    Regards,

    Jonny.

  • Hello,

The reasons for this question are as follows

After 450 cycles of energizing as per this waveform, followed by 1 hour of charging (250mA), and repeating the above about 80 times, the SOH dropped to about 80%.

    One of the engineers said
One engineer said, “The sampling took 1 second, so there must be some missed pulsed currents,
“The problem is a voltage drop due to the pulse current,” said one engineer,
Another says, “The problem is the repetition of charging and discharging in a short period of time.
This is why I asked this question.

Attached is a GG file of the battery that caused this problem.
Can you tell what the problem is?
