TPS54302: TPS54302

Part Number: TPS54302

Tool/software:

Dear Sr:

We are using TPS54302 in our design as shown below. If the current is less than 200mA works fine but if I try draw 300 mA the TPS54302 burn. Is there something wrong in this drawing? Input 24Vdc output 3V3 current that I want 300mA.

Thanks in advance for your help

  • Hi,

The schematic just looks normal. The inductance is a little bit larger than the recommended value in datasheet. But it should be OK and wouldn't cause damage.

    Some suspected points:

    1. You could check the saturation current rating of the inductor which you used. If you used a inductor with very small saturation current and the inductor gets saturated, the IC could damage since the saturated inductor is just like a wire directly shorten SW to Vout.

    2. Is your IC soldered manually or assembled with machine? Manual soldering could cause larger parasitic with worse connection, that might cause larger voltage stress when switching.

    3. Input 100nF placement: Please make sure the 100nF filter cap is placed close to IC Vin/GND pins in PCB layout.

    Thanks,

    Andrew
