TPS7A57EVM-081: Paralleling additional devices

Part Number: TPS7A57EVM-081
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A57

Tool/software:

Hello,

The parallel design “TPS7A57EVM-081” https://www.ti.com/tool/TPS7A57EVM-081  shows thee parallel “TPS7A570” to source 13.5A at 0.75V.

Would it be possible to add the 4th or the 5th parallel device to source ~20A at 0.75V?

Thank you,

Owen

  • Hi Owen,

My understanding is that yes this can be done. Our expert on paralleling LDOs is out of office until tomorrow, so I will defer to him until he is back in the office.

    Regards,

    Nick

  • Hi Owen,

Yes you can add as many in parallel as you would like.  We have an internal design with 5 parallel TPS7A57's to deliver high current with low noise.  We've had customers look at designing up to 7 of these in parallel for over 25A of ultra clean, high performance linear power.  20A at 0.75V will not be an issue.

If you could reply back and let us know what the end application is (what is being powered and any other key requirements) that will help us with future product development and product definition.  We can also assist in a schematic review or layout review if you would like. Let us know if you have any further questions.

    Thanks,

    Stephen
