TPS61087: TPS61087QDRCRQ1

Part Number: TPS61087

Tool/software:

Dear Team,

We had faced malfunctioning issue with TPS61087QDRCRQ1 Step-up DC-DC Converter IC in our application. To know briefly please find below details:-

Initially after assembling this IC in one of Converter Control card the IC worked normally as we configured this IC with 5V output voltage with 3.3VDC input DC. But after few days in field trails, the IC started functioning abnormally i.e  O/P voltage is dropped to 3.88VDC.

Checked all the passives in the circuitry & observed that signals on the SW pin are started to switch from 1V to 5V with 1.25MHz(which we configured) in place of 0 to 5V.

Suspected Ground contact issue at the IC pads, so then re-assembled the same IC in the same section. After this IC working normally by generating 5V DC O/P.

Same Issue is again repeated in another Control card which is verified by X-ray Machine also. No contact missing issue is detected at the time of assembling process but after Re-assembling the same TPS61087 IC, it Started working normally.

Application :- Bi-Directional Converter Control card

Project :- Electrical Vehicle

Domain :- Automotive

  • Hi Mukesh,

    Thank you for reaching out.

    1. Please provide your schematic and PCB for us to check.

There could be something wrong with them and causes the problem.

    2. When there is only very few of the devices with the malfunction, you can request customer failure analysis process.

you can send email to me and my email address is f-he @ti.com.

    Best Regards,

    Fergus
