LMQ66430-Q1: Query about External component selection

Part Number: LMQ66430-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello Team,

My customer has below questions for LMQ66430-Q1. Could you please answer?

1. She is using LMQ66430-Q1 for application : Vin 12V, Vout 7.5V and Iout 0.6A.

Can she use external components in yellow from below table other then feedback capacitors? Please let me know if you have any concern.

2. LMQ66430-Q1 datasheet recommends X7R or higher grade MLCC for output capacitor.

She wants to use below capacitor part in her capacitor pool but it's X7S. Is it strict requirement? Or X7S can be acceptable?

CAP-C-C,22UF 25V K X7S 3225 -55TO+125  CL32Y226KAVVPNE / Samsung electrics

3. The minimum Input capacitor is 4.7uF as recommended in the typical component table.

She is using 2x 4.7uF capacitors on the input. Is it sufficient? Or, 2x10uF is more recommended as FIgure 8-1?

CAP-C-C,4.7UF 100 K X7R 3225 OPEN-MODE  12101C475K4Z2A / Kyocera

Thank you in advance.

  • Hi Kenneth,

    1. Yeah Those components should be ok.

2.X7S is ok, if they are ok with the temperature characteristics over the operating conditions of their application. We have that line in the DS because X7R is more versatile and consistently works over the operating conditions (high and low temp) of the part.

3.The derating characteristics of the capacitor you choose (CL32Y226KAVVPNE) should be ok.

    Thanks,

    Andrew
