BQ3050: Reading the 0x50 SafetyAlert() Register

Part Number: BQ3050

Tool/software:

We are working with a Smart battery that uses the BQ3050 gas gauge for reporting on the status of the battery. We believe that we are experiencing an overheating issue in the battery, and are hoping to read the SafetyStatus and SafetyAlert Registers to see if any warning flags are being thrown.

We have attempted to read the 0x50 and 0x51 registers that are a part of the SBS standard, but are not seeing any change in these flags. I want to try reading the same registers that are under the ManufacturerAccess portion of the technical reference to see if these are the registers being written to instead.

Is there a specific process that this part is expecting to allow us to read these registers? Are they even readable to end users at all? If we were to see an overheating event, which register would we expect to see indicate this?
