TL431: Thermal Resistance Values for TLV431 (DCK Package)

Hi,

I would like to inquire about the thermal resistance values listed in the datasheet of TLV431 (DCK package) (Document No. SLVS543AS – JUNE 2004 – REVISED MARCH 2023, Section 5.4).

The datasheet specifies the following values:

• RθJA = 87 °C/W
• RθJC(top) = 259 °C/W

However, as a general rule, RθJA (Junction-to-Ambient Thermal Resistance) is typically larger than RθJC(top) (Junction-to-Case Top Thermal Resistance). Therefore, we are concerned that these values may have been mistakenly swapped in the datasheet.

Given this, we would appreciate it if you could confirm the following:

1. Are the thermal resistance values (RθJA and RθJC(top)) listed for TLV431 (DCK package) correct?
2. If there is a mistake, could you kindly provide the correct thermal resistance values?
