BQ76907: Evaluation board connections for MCU evaluation.

Have purchased the BQ76907 Evaluation Module/Board and would like to use a Microchip Devkit for interfacing to it. Figure 4-6. Host Connection Concept (attached), shows a setup for this scenario, but fails to detail what the small red-wire is for (it seems to connect the MCU evaluation board to TP1). I'm assuming that this is power as the wire is red and that an adjacent black wire is connected to GND. Due to the cost of the board, I'm reluctant to start experimenting with ad-hoc power connections.

I'd be most grateful if anyone can provide any information with regard to setting up the evaluation board correctly for the aforementioned scenario.

Hello Rob,

The red wire seems to be connected to TP1, which in Figure 5-3. Schematic Diagram Monitor of the EVM User Guide, shows it’s connected to REGSRC.

It seems to be a typo, and the red wire should have been connected to TP2, which is connected to the REGOUT to make use of the programmable LDO. If your MCU does not need to use a programmable LDO, then those connections are not needed. Section 7.2 LDOs from the Technical Reference Manual talks more about REGOUT.
