TPS61165: LED burned issue

Hi Team,

1. What is the maximum receive current specification for this driver IC?
2. According to datasheet the current limit is 1.2A. When exceeding this current, will the LED driver shut down? If not, when input 280mA, will the LED driver supply the LED directly?
3. On the other hand, if the LED driver does not supply large currents directly, but lowers the current to the LED, that inrush current may be in the LED driver to LED section
May I know if the LED driver IC supplies the LED this segment has a fuse? Are there specifications?

Hi Patrick,

The temperature of LED increased and the backlight film damaged by heat abnormally. We are trouble shooting now, cannot make sure if the issue is on LED or driver.

Hi Wayne,

If the input current reaches to the current limit threshold of TPS61165, the IC will not stop switching but will continue to output as much as it can. So the output current will also be limited.

What do you mean of "when input 280mA, will the LED driver supply the LED directly?" Could you please send me the schematic for double check first?
