Dear Sir

Now we want change CSD17510Q5A to CSD17577Q5A ,but I found that the SOA curve is not as good as CSD17510Q5A at a waveform of 10ms , I found that the rdson of CSD17577Q5A is lower than that of CSD17510Q5A. May I ask why?

  • Hello Gabriel,

Thanks for your interest in TI FETs. The CSD17510Q5A is an older generation device and uses a different process technology compared to the CSD17577Q5A. The SOA curve in the CSD17510Q5A datasheet is calculated whereas the SOA curve in the CSD17577Q5A is based on test to fail data as explained in the technical article below. The older generation FET has inherently better SOA capability due to larger die size and device design. If the application is switch mode power such as synchronous buck, then SOA is not a major consideration since the FET is not operating in linear mode for extended periods of time. Please let me know if you have any questions.

  • Dear Sir

Could u help to advice a MOS's SOA similar like CSD17510Q5A ,the customer attaches great importance to the SOA curve of MOS at 10ms.

  • Hi Gabriel,

I have a few other FETs with similar SOA including 1ku price from TI.com:

    • CSD17510Q5A 10ms SOA ~12A at 10V $0.35/1ku
    • CSD17581Q5A 10 ms SOA ~8A at 10V $0.199/1ku
    • CSD17552Q5A 10ms SOA ~8A at 10V $0.299/1ku
    • CSD17553Q5A 10 ms SOA ~12A at 10V $0.408/1ku
    • CSD17576Q5B 10ms SOA ~9A at 10V $0.344/1ku

We have FETs with better SOA capability but they are higher cost. Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

    John
