TPS22919: Questions about SLVA716A, SLVA670A application reports

Part Number: TPS22919

Tool/software:

Hi.

I've been reading TI Application Report SLVA716A and SLVA670A and I have some questions.

1.

In SLVA716a page15 Figure 28, doesn't NMOS have body diode?

Symbol used in this figure looks like Vin is source and Vout is drain. I have only seen n mosfets which have body diodes and anode of diode is connected to source.

I wonder if there is other type of n mosfets.

2.

In SLVA670A page 5 Figure 5, is wrong mosfet symbol is used for main pass fet?

3.

In SLVA716a, I understand benefits of load switch, however are there other solutions of using discrete mosfets as load switch to prevent inrush current and other side effects?

Thanks.

Best regards.

  • Hello,

    Welcome to E2E.

    1. That symbol of NMOS is to explain a concept, so the author may have used NMOS FET without body diode to explain. Body diode is inherited to MOSFET.

    2. Main FET symbol looks correct to me. That circuit shows a PFET on a discrete circuit.

    3. Inegrated NMOS load switch can prevent inrush and gives additional protection.

Can you tell me you system requirement? I can suggest the load switch and eFuse based on that.

    Thanks

    Amrit
