USB2GPIO-LOADER-SW: Connecting to the BQ78PL116 via USB-TO-GPIO (2006) requires no longer available software

Part Number: USB2GPIO-LOADER-SW
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQWIZARD, BQ78PL116

Tool/software:

Hi,

I am trying to connect to an ancient (early 2000's) piece of hardware that my company produces that contains the BQ78PL116 bms chip.  I have acquired a working USB-TO-GPIO adapter and following the bqwizard software to try and connect to this chip.  According to the bqwizard documentation I need to change the firmware on the USB-TO-GPIO adapter using the USB2GPIO-LOADER-SW.  However, this software is no longer available.  I have checked other E2E threads with similar content and it appears that TI no longer has this software or potentially is not willing to distribute it any longer. Before I completely throw in the towel I just wanted to confirm that this software is no longer supported/available.

Thanks,

Andrew

  • Hello,

I understand your situation with trying to connect to the BQ78PL116 BMS chip using the USB-TO-GPIO adapter and the bqWizard software. You’re correct that the USB2GPIO-LOADER-SW firmware loader is required to update the adapter’s firmware for compatibility with certain Texas Instruments (TI) battery management systems, including the BQ78PL116.

I would recommend to go into newer generation devices. We can offer support in newer devices as the people who worked in this very old devices are not longer part of the team.
