TPS65070 vdcdc1 and vDCDC3 shut down for sleep mode

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65070, TPS65073

if our IC don't have input or just have battery  operate, customer just want to let Vdcdc2 output 1.8v for RAM,can we disable Vdcdc1 and Vdcdc3 at this time when I2C is not work?how to realize it ?

  • There is not an easy way to do this with the TPS65070. What output voltages and currents do you need? You may be better off using one of the TPS6507x variations with external sequencing such as the TPS65073; however, this part has 1.8V for DCDC1 not 3.3V like TPS65070. See the ORDERING INFORMATION in the datasheet along with the description on page 52 and in table 9.

The register CON_CTR1 can be modified through I2C to enable/disable the supplies.

  • in Normal Mode for tps65070, all the DCDC and LDO will power up,when TPS65070 enter into Sleep Mode, what DCDC output and LDO we can shut down? Can we just keep the DC-DC2 output power and shut down the others DCDC output, if yes. How to configure it?

Is TPS65073 can meet the requirement? please see the attached picture for the details output current.

  • Per our conversation, I understand you have an I2C bus in your system but it will not be active while the system is in the sleep mode.

Before your system goes into sleep mode, you can set CON_CTRL1[7:5]=101 so that DCDC converters are enabled individually with the external enable pin.

Also, please verify your power requirements since DCDC3 can not supply 2A output current as you block diagram shows is required.

  • Daniel,

Thanks for your answer, well understand and much appreciated.it's excited our IC can meet our customer requirement.
